Retreats in October

Dear beloved friends:

In our beautiful Costa Rica, October is a month of lots of rain, but it is also a month when we get invited by many schools.

The retreats are very different from our regular activities, since we have the students for a whole day, having the opportunity to share the Gospel in conferences and also in a personal way.

It is a very special time with the teenagers, where we can leave a big mark in their lives through the Bible.

We have games prepared for teenagers, but also conferences that teachers listen to as well, such as: genuine friendships, sex and youth, drugs versus life, and many others.

This time of the year is really exhausting, since we have activities all day, but the staff that God has given us, including students and other young people from churches, make the work easier. We thank God for these young people and for the opportunity to reach lives for Him.

Classes at the Bible Institute

Another big opportunity God gave us in October was to teach a class at the Bible Institute Strom.

It is a great blessing to be able to teach the new generation to make the job God has called us to do.

It was beautiful not only to have them in the class, but also to have them helping us with our ministry’s activities.

They were a blessing!

Sigueme Radio on the Internet

radio on the internet

Every day we are amazed by this ministry, having
the radio on the Internet.

We have gotten reports from Taiwan, Netherlands and many other countries that listen to us.

This is a ministry that the young men that help us are working with from our house; it has become a huge blessing in Costa Rica and other countries as well.

You can listen to good music, and of course we preach the Word of God as well.

Today in Costa Rica, many teenagers have smartphones, and this is a great option to reach them with the Gospel.

Sigueme: Looking Towards the Future

looking forwards the future

In November and December, classes in the schools are over. We prepare ourselves for summer break, when we have our camps and will have the opportunity to share the Gospel.

November and December are very challenging months, since the schools start their summer break, so we look for a way to reach the teenagers for Christ.

Camps, sports activities, and outdoors evangelism, are some ways we are using to reach them.

Please pray for our ministry, since a lot of dangers and temptations come along with these months. The world uses different ways to attract them and try to distract them from The Way. God is faithful, and we rest in Him, since we want to see His Glory reflected in many teenagers’ lives.

Please pray as well for this time, since we are moving and opening our new office this November.

Goals for 2014

We would like to share with you what we want to put in God’s hands for 2014, please pray for us; we want to take advantage of the time God gives us.

◼ We want to preach the Gospel to 7000 souls in 2014.

◼ We would like to support 6 local churches in San Jose with programs for teenagers.

◼ We want to reach the south of the country, where we have natives.

◼ Reach 35 high schools, and offer a new program to support pregnant teenagers and pull them closer to a church near the school.

Sigueme Prayer Requests

1. Our goal this year 2013, is to preach the Gospel to 7000 people. Right now we have preached to around 6000 people. Please pray for God to keep opening doors.

 2. For us to keep a heart according to God’s heart in all our staff. Young people are collaborating and many of them have a heart willing to praise God.

3. We need to move, since we are renting this house. We are praying for a house with enough space so we use as well as Sigueme’s office. In the house is where we run the radio and it’s also a place where we can keep the equipment we use for our activities.

4. For the next evangelistic activities in high schools and elementary school, camps and more.

5. For the kids we are discipling and their decision to study at the Bible Institute.

6. For our economical support, for God to complete it and allow us to extend His work around the country. As the ministry grows, the expenses grow as well, so please pray for this.

“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not lean on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths”.

Proverbs 3:5-6

A note from Lauren:

In 2011, I went on my first mission trip called the World Race. It was to 11 countries in 11 months.  This journey was forever life-changing and helped me grow closer to God. Once I returned to the United States I took a year to pray about what would be my next step. God kept bringing Camp Brittney into my life, but I kept saying no. One thing I have learned through this is that when He calls us to serve we need to listen to the plan He has for us!

In June 2012, I had the opportunity to meet with Dayna Bledsoe about Camp Brittney and immediately in talking with her about the camp I knew that this was where God was calling me. Two weeks later, I was headed to Costa Rica to serve during the July winter camp. After returning to the United States, I started praying about the opportunity I had with The Brittney Strom Foundation. In January 2013, I started full-time with the foundation. My responsibilities are to be a support to all the Camp Brittney and Strom Bible Institute missionaries, help host short-term mission teams when they are in Costa Rica, and help to raise awareness of The Brittney Strom Foundation.  God has done some amazing things in my life and I am excited for this journey with Him!

Lauren’s Prayer Request:

-God to reveal His will for every area of my life

-Direction in assisting with Camp Brittney

-Fundraising and Promotional ideas for Camp Brittney

-A office for Camp Brittney staff in the States

-Financial support

“You will keep him in perfect place whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”

Isaiah 26:3-4

                      A note from Nanny:

Since 2005 I have had the opportunity to serve in the beautiful ministry of Camp Brittney in camps, retreats, children’s activities, and helping to host short-term mission teams from the United States and Canada.  When The Strom Bible Institute began in 2008, I had the opportunity to join this ministry and my daughter and I moved to Camp Brittney.  For three years I served preparing all the meals for the IBS students and staff and also with counseling.

In 2012, my position changed. I now serve as secretary for The Strom Bible Institute.  I also lead women’s meetings with ladies in the neighborhood and counsel students.  I love that I am still able to help with camps and also to continue to help host short-term mission teams.

I thank God for His grace and that He allows me to serve Him full-time in His work doing what I love the most: Glorifying His name!!
